Tunneling is one of the most demanding fields of engineering – we know this from our own experience. We were all the more proud to witness yesterday's finalization of work on the Rzeszów Południe – Babica section, where the powerful TBM officially completed the first tunnel section.
To the casual observer, it's simply a "big drill" smashing through rock. For us – the GENERO , which handles comprehensive tunneling projects on a daily basis – it's a moment where technology, precision, and months of hard work converge.
When engineering meets the elements
Breaking a tunnel through the complex conditions of the Carpathian flysch is a test of maturity for any contractor. Managing the excavation process, installing tubing, maintaining traffic, and servicing such gigantic machines as the "Karpatka" (over 100 meters long and weighing 4,000 tons!) are tasks that don't forgive mistakes. Yesterday's success is proof that Polish engineering and international cooperation are at the highest level in the world.
